Here's my guess...

Days to go, so here's my guess - Tories get it by clear majority of 30 to 60 seats. Yes, yes, I know I'm the only person saying this, but I just don't think our 'electoral system' (I flatter it) tends to yield the fabled hung parliament. The Labour vote will collapse completely, the Liberals still don't seem a credible governing power, and nationalists are by definition of Celtic interest only, so that leaves Mr Cameron and his chaps.

Some thoughts - it's Gordon Brown's last week in politics. We're going to have to get used to listening to Michael Gove and Boris. Vince Cable will retain his position as Sage of the House. And Cameron will start to wonder if he really meant it...

"From Stalin to Mr Bean" will be heralded as the start of the end. And "she's just some bigoted woman" will mark the end of the end. Brown has been building his whole life to this end, and now it is just a heap of failure. Sad, sad.

Mark the passing of Chris Mullin, integrity personified. Of Ann Widdecombe, likewise. Of Clare Short, who was weak when she needed to be strong. Probably of Ed Balls, Machiavelli without the guile. And quite likely of little Bercow. Some will be missed. Some will disappear without ever registering.

What a poor, pathetic little Parliament this has been.

And what a shock awaits the new Parliament. It truly isn't one to win. The only honours to be won are those that go to the nation's butchers - and there are no fond memories of prize butchers in politics.
